Hard Case

Hard case luggage protects with a rigid outer shell, built from polycarbonate, ABS, or a blend of both. The  trade-off against soft case bags is flexibility — a hard shell won’t stretch to fit one more sweater, but it holds its  shape under stacked cargo holds and shields fragile items better.

Hard case luggage in the Philippines comes in three practical sizes. Cabin cases, generally around 55 to 56cm,  fit standard overhead bins for short trips. Medium cases, roughly 65 to 67cm, suit a week away as checked  baggage. Large cases, upward of 70cm, carry family loads or extended stays. Most shells now run on four-wheel spinners, and many add an expandable zip gusset for extra room when you need it.

Every hard case at The Travel Club is sourced through official distribution, with local warranty and repair  support an unauthorised seller can’t offer. Terms vary by brand. Our team can walk you through sizing, wheel  systems, and shell material in store or online — just ask.

Buying Guide

What hard case size fits your trip?

Choose cabin size for one to three nights when everything fits in the overhead bin. Move up to medium for a  one-week trip that needs a checked bag. Large cases work best for family trips, two-week stays, or bringing gifts and gear both ways. When unsure, sizing up costs less hassle than checking a second bag.

Is polycarbonate or ABS better for a hard shell?

Polycarbonate flexes slightly on impact and returns to shape, so it resists cracking under rough handling. ABS is stiffer and lighter on the wallet but can crack rather than flex under a hard drop. Many hard cases now blend the  two for a shell that’s light and impact-resistant. Either material scratches with use — that’s cosmetic wear, not  structural damage.

4-wheel or 2-wheel: which spinner works better?

Four-wheel spinners roll in any direction and go where you push them, which matters most on smooth airport  floors. Two-wheel cases tip and drag but stay steadier on rough terrain, like unpaved roads or a broken sidewalk. For city travel and airports, four wheels save the most effort.

Already decided on a hard case? What else to weigh

If you’ve settled on a hard case, the next decision is between spinner wheel counts and shell material — covered  above. For the broader hard-versus-soft-case decision, see our full comparison guide, or the Luggage page for  how hard case, soft case, and trunk styles compare side by side.

What to check before you buy

● Corner guards: raised or reinforced corners absorb the first impact when a case is dropped or thrown  onto a conveyor.

● Zipper type: coil zippers flex with impact; toothed zippers seal tighter against weather.

● Expansion: check whether it’s a working zip gusset or just a flat seam — only the zip actually adds  packing volume.

● Wheel housing: recessed wheels resist snapping off compared with wheels bolted onto the surface.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I buy hard case luggage in the Philippines?

Hard case luggage is available in the Philippines at The Travel Club, online and in stores nationwide. The range  covers cabin, medium, and large sizes across several brands, all sourced through official distribution. Use the  store locator to check a size in person before you buy.

Is hard case or soft case luggage better for travel?

Choose a hard case if you’re checking fragile items or travelling somewhere humid, and a soft case if you need  extra give to overpack. Hard shells resist crushing and water better; soft bags flex into tight overhead space and  absorb bumps. Most frequent flyers eventually own one of each for different trips.

How long does hard case luggage last?

Well-made hard case luggage typically holds up for several years of regular travel before the shell, wheels, or zippers show real wear. Scratches and scuffs are cosmetic and don’t affect protection. How long yours lasts depends more on handling by baggage crews than on the brand, so look after the wheels and corners and the shell will outlast them.

What size hard case luggage do I need?

Match the case to your trip length: cabin size for one to three nights, medium for about a week, large for two  weeks or family trips. Cabin cases fit most airline overhead bins, though allowances vary by carrier, so check  yours before you fly. If unsure, a medium case with an expandable zip gives you room to grow into it.

Do hard case suitcases scratch easily?

Yes — hard case shells pick up surface scratches with regular use, especially in matte or dark colours where  marks show more. Scratches are cosmetic and don’t weaken the shell’s structure or protection. Textured or  patterned finishes hide wear better if that matters to you.

Are hard case luggage bought at The Travel Club covered by warranty?

Yes — hard case luggage bought at The Travel Club is covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, honoured  locally through Repair Hub. Terms and coverage differ by brand, and proof of purchase is required for any  claim. Keep your receipt through Receipt Storage, then start a claim through Repair Hub if you need it.
