For many music enthusiasts and fans, concerts like Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour, Coldplay’s The Music of the Spheres World Tour, or even music festivals like Coachella are more than just shows; they’re celebrations filled with month-long anticipation and excitement.

Lately, flying abroad has become a fitting choice for many concertgoers. And why wouldn’t it be? Witnessing your favorite artist perform live while touring a new country in a single trip is undoubtedly a delightful way to create unforgettable memories.

If you’re gearing up for an overseas concert soon, here are some essential tips to ensure you are ready for it

  1. Research and plan ahead

Before you jet off to catch your favorite artists live, take the time to research first. Where is the venue? How far is it from the train? What are your other transportation options? Where will you be seated? Are there any special requirements or rules during the event? What are the things you can and can’t bring? Knowing the answers to these important questions ahead will make your trip as seamless and enjoyable as possible. All it takes is a little bit of Googling, and you’re already a step closer to a hassle-free trip..

  1. Secure your flight tickets early

Flight tickets on dates of popular concerts can sell out quickly or get price increases instantly. To ensure you’re not burning off cash more than you intend to, purchase your flight tickets as soon as you’ve secured your concert tickets. By doing so, you get to save your money for other expenses such as food, outfits, and accommodation.

  1. Choose the ideal accommodation

Now that the topic of accommodation has been brought up, you have to remember that selecting the right hotel is crucial for a comfortable and convenient concert experience. Look for hotels or lodging options located near the venue to minimize travel time and expenses. Check online reviews and ratings to ensure your chosen accommodation meets your expectations in terms of comfort, safety, and amenities. Just like plane tickets, booking your stay well in advance can also help you secure the best rates and availability.

  1. Bring a suitable concert bag

Concerts can feel otherworldly, but having fun is not an excuse to forget about your essentials. What you need: a sunscreen and/or mini fan (if the venue is an open air stadium or event ground), a power bank (fully-charged, of course), a water bottle (usually empty), important medications, and a suitable bag that not only fits your OOTD but also all these essentials. It’s best to check out any guidelines by the concert management to ensure you pass through security checks easily.

PRO TIP: For added safety, investing on security accessories such as cable locks, RFID-blocking wallets, and straps. Having these is a great way to keep your valuables safe during the concert—and your travels.

  1. Make sure you have enough phone memory

It’s concert day! You know you don’t want that “Storage full” notification to appear right in the middle of recording your favorite artist while singing your heart out, right? So before you even fly out of the country, make sure you clean your storage space. Review your files for any duplicates or space-consuming videos. You can temporarily store them in a cloud or Google Drive folder to make way for new memories.

  1. Plan your itinerary wisely

Make the most out of your trip by having a tour itinerary. Research nearby attractions, restaurants, and cultural landmarks to explore before or after the event. You may consider booking guided tours to streamline your travel plans. But if you have plenty of time to plan and stay, you can always DIY your tour using travel apps like Wanderlog and navigate unfamiliar surroundings yourself. There are also Facebook communities like The Travel Club where you can ask for practical tips and stories from frequent, experienced travelers.

PRO TIP: Don’t forget to pack a tote bag or a waist pack you can bring with you during the tour.

As cliché as it sounds, music knows no bounds. And when you’re fortunate enough to get on a plane to see your favorite artist share their music to the world, you have to enjoy every moment of it. Take it as an opportunity to connect with fellow fans and create lasting memories that will stay with you long after the final encore.
