On Fulfilling Things Alone

More than thinking of places to go on a bucket list, I have a list of things I’d like to accomplish instead.

I am fascinated by people who go on solo travels and one day, I'm going to do more of that. Not that I don't enjoy traveling with family or friends but there's a certain degree of achievement when you do things on your own - like booking your accommodation and tours, planning your itinerary, and as simple as deciding where to go or what to do. Every self-fulfillment comes a clear understanding of who I am. Well, that’s how I take it.

That said, there are a lot of activities for me to fulfill - from skydiving to scuba diving, from getting a tattoo from Whang Od or having a session of Dagdagay (an Igorot foot massage using bamboo sticks) in the Mountain Provinces, from climbing Mount Apo to diving into the Tubbataha Reef. I even see myself shooting portraits in the Kingdom of Morocco, lose myself in India’s Holi or maybe end up on a road trip in the great Icelandic fields playing 90’s music.

There are millions of reasons to go out and try something new but more than your bucket list is your sense of purpose and learning how to defeat time while you can - the bottomline here is getting the courage to do things. Choose the ones that matter to you. The ones that make you feel alive. The ones that you can proudly share with your grandchildren.  The ones that can shape your perspective and define who you are. Go out, find out.
